When setting out to achieve high rankings in search engines one thing you will definitely need are is plenty of patience as it is not easy to achieve.
It will take a lot of time and effort on your part, but as you see your site climbing through the ranks all the work is well worth while.
Here is some pointers to get you started on your journey. More tips will be added over the next few days so check back soon or subscribe to our RSS feed.
* Create a lot of pages of content on your site
* On each page of your site use relevant title tags that have keywords
* Your title tags should contain your keywords. For example, if your site is www.yourbusiness.com and you offer advice on computers and the internet, instead of your title saying ‘Your Business’, it should say something like ‘Advice on Computers and the Internet | Your Business’
* Words or Phrases in your title tags should be pipe seperated e.g. ‘Advice on Computers and the Internet | Your Business’
* Title text should be no more than 60 characters and you should go esy on words such as ‘and’, ‘the’, ‘of’ etc
* Please be aware that it is best to only use the words already in your URL if there is space. Try to get all your other keywords in first.
* Fill your web pages with plenty of text. Try to ain for at least a minimum of 100 – 150 words. At the moment search engines cannot read graphics or flash movie files so if your site is graphic or flash based, then you are going to have trouble getting good search engine rankings.
* Create key word laiden Meta Tags for your site. Meta Tags are code found in the header section of your webpage and contain keywords and description of the page. Keywords are not used much when indexing your site but it is still a good idea to include them when writing your pages.
* If possible use your most important keywords about 5 times per every 100 words. The more it is used the more importance the search engines will place on them.
* If you are using a shopping cart system or have a database driven site, make sure it is search engine friendly and configured titles, keywords and descriptions in the relevant meta tags.
